About Us

The Community Arts Council of Prince George and District is committed to fostering the arts in Prince George and beyond. We operate at Studio 2880, a civic creative arts facility, and The Prince George Playhouse, another civic facility and hub for vibrant performances and community events. We are looking to expand our team with experienced, on-call Theatre Technicians to support our growing roster of performances and events.

Position Overview

As the house Theatre Technician, you will provide essential technical support for productions and events hosted at Prince George Playhouse. Reporting to the Production Manager, this position includes lighting, sound, video, rigging, and stage management. Successful candidates will be flexible, reliable, and adept at working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the setup, operation, and teardown of technical equipment for performances and events.
  • Operate lighting, sound, and/or video systems as required.
  • Load and unload rigging systems and adjust rigging components.
  • Climb ladders and work at heights as needed to set up lighting, sound, and stage elements.
  • Conduct basic troubleshooting and maintenance of technical equipment.
  • Support stage management and other production needs as assigned.
  • Ensure the safety and security of all equipment, performers, and crew.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience in theatre technical operations, including lighting, sound, and stage management.
  • Knowledge of digital soundboards, lighting consoles, and video equipment is an asset.
  • Familiarity with rigging systems and stage equipment.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A commitment to safety and professionalism in a technical environment.

Additional Assets

  • Formal training or certification in technical theatre or a related field.
  • Knowledge of WHMIS and basic first aid (or willingness to obtain certification).
  • Experience working with diverse communities or equity-deserving groups is an asset.

Training

Fall protection training and safety equipment will be provided as required.

Pay Rate
